Library Advocacy
Divided line

ProQuest is a longstanding supporter of libraries and librarianship. Outreach and advocacy efforts extend deep into the library community and include varied programs such as tools and services that help librarians connect with their communities, free database access and scholarship support for library students, and sponsorship of a range of awards that recognize outstanding library school educators.

ProQuest is also a corporate member and premier partner to numerous library organizations, including American Library Association's short list of Library Champions, and their division, Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations. Involvement with these organizations is part of ProQuest’s commitment to the role of libraries as cornerstones of healthy, informed communities.

Other active support for charitable causes spans large organizations, such as United Way and March of Dimes, to grassroots efforts that support local needs, such as Washtenaw Literacy. ProQuest, and its employees around the globe, commit both time and dollars to improve the lives of the world's citizens.

ALA/ProQuest Scholarship Bash & Ron Clowney Spectrum Scholarship
ProQuest is the major sponsor of this popular ALA Annual event, which funds scholarships for minority library students as part of the American Library Association's Office for Diversity Spectrum Scholarship Program. The scholarships help address the specific issue of under-representation of critically needed ethnic librarians within the profession while serving as a model for ways to bring attention to larger diversity issues in the future. ProQuest also sponsors its own Spectrum Scholarship to honor the life of longtime-employee, Ron Clowney, former Vice President of US Higher Education & Government Sales, who passed away in May 2010.

Library Marketing Toolkits
Librarians face the fundamental challenge of creating awareness about their library's value and role in meeting information needs. How do you remind your user community about the great online resources you offer, when they think all they need is the open web? ProQuest can help show you how. We've collected best practices in marketing, crafted templates, and compiled them for leverage by busy librarians. ProQuest has created marketing toolkits specifically tailored for academic, public, corporate, military and military base libraries.

Since then it has become an annual volunteer activity operating under the theme "Live, Learn, Laugh, Love Your Library."
